Hello, i am from Austria but i live here in Romania since 1 year now so i write in english because my romanian is not the best:) Maybe someone can help me, i drive a GC Wj Bj 2001 3,1 TD. And i need a new Kardan in the front. Someone maybe knows where i can get a cheap one?

Now, onto your problem.

What happened to your current driveshaft?

There might be solutions to rebuild / repair them or if you are lucky you could adapt a driveshaft from an XJ, YJ or TJ, which can be easily rebuilt in the future.

As far as you maybe already know, the stock front drive shaft of the Grand Cherokees is not quite the best item.

 

If you're gonna drive your rig most offroad, it will be better to switch or upgrade to a XJ/YJ/TJ piece, cause U-Joints are stronger and better to abuse. Some people say that they are a little bit noisy, but I'm sure your five-pot engine is not the quiet type, so you'll hear nothing more than usual.

 

If your driving happens most onroad, a new stock drive shaft is the better choice. A used one could be also an option, if the CV-joints are still in good shape.

Many thanks for the replays. Its good to see here are real Mates around. So now to the Problem. The Kardan is still on the car, its the Plastik how is broken and i dont think like this its so good to drive and i know i can kill the cardan with this. The next problem, i was at a few mechanics here around but not one is a jeep specialist. I like to make a service on the car, to change a few parts and also the oil, but only to change the oil is a big problem, they dont know Mopar here around:grin: I found one similar jeep as mine for parts, problem is i dont know if i can use all the parts because mine is a Right Hand drive the other one is LHD. Soooo my big question, i am located in Jud Hunedoara, maybe someone knows here around a jeep pro or can tell me where i can drive to find one. And its not a problem to went somewhere else here in Romania when i know i get help:)Here is also a picture from my small problem with the cardan. And one thin i like to do, at the moment the car is stock, but i like to build from it a Expedition Car, with all you need, new Tiers, Snorkel ect.... So maybe someone knows where to start.......

Mach erstmal die Kardanwelle runter, so darfst Du nicht rumfahren, ist kein Fett mehr drin und geht alles kaputt, wenn es nicht sogar schon ist...

 

Da kann man eine Gummi-Manschette von irgendein anderes Fabrikat nehmen, muss nicht unbedingt Jeep sein, Hauptsache der Durchmesser stimmt.

Hallo, na ich hab mir das auch schon gedacht, der Mechaniker hier hat gesagt ne kein Problem kann man ja so auch fahren ist ja nur Plastik Teil...... Hurra. Meinst du passt die Welle von dem Linksgesteuerten Jeep da rauf?? Ich hab heute die Spurstangen bei dem anderen rausgenommen die untere schaut gleich wie meine aus bei der oberen ist eine Seite ok die andere da geht der Kopf in die andere richtung.

ob Rechts- oder Linksgesteuert hat meistens nichts zu tun mit dem Antrieb. also, bin mir sicher dass die Kardanwelle gleich ist. andere Teile passen nicht: Steuerung teilweise (wie du schon festgestellt hast), Scheinwerfer, Scheibenwischer, viele innere Teile etc.

p.s. geh' zu dem Mechaniker und frag' ihm, ob er sein eigenes Kardanwelle nicht geschmiert benutzt:ha::ha:

He He werd ich machen. Sind halt einige Spezialisten unterwegs. Hab eben angerufen das die mir die Kardan runtermachen von meinem Ersatzteil WJ und rauf auf meinen. Dann hab ich gleich noch ne Frage, was fur Offroad Reifen kann ich denn auf meine original 17 Zoll Felgen raufmachen oder soll ich die Felgen tauschen? Und wo bekomm ich welche zu einem halbwegs guten Preis hier in Rumanien:)

Kardanwelle vom Rechtslenker müsste passen. Teilweise das Lenkgestänge, der Panhard und das Lenkgetriebe passen nicht von einem am anderen.

 

Die günstigsten Reifen gibt es nicht in Rumänien, leider. 17"-er MT's oder AT's passen auf deine Felgen, wenn die Breite nicht zu extrem ist.

Denk dir mal wie gross Du die Reifen haben möchtest, weil entsprechend muss auch die Lifthöhe sein.

Danke mal fur die Antwort. Ich wollte die Felgen behalten da sie mir recht gut gefallen, muss aber nicht sein wenn es ne Alternative gibt. Wegen dem Liften dachte ich an ein komplett neues Fahrwerk, soll es ja geben. Aber ich hab ein neues Problem das mir was Kopfweh macht. Es ist nicht immer, aber manchmal wenn ich die Automatik in P hab, dann fangt der ganze Wagen an zu wackeln wie doof, sobald ich dann den Gang reinmache ist es weg. Was kann das sein?

Motorhalter/Getriebehalter kaputt oder lose ist eine Möglichkeit. Komplettfahrwerke gibt es in verschiedene Höhen. Dazu kommen noch die Panhard-Anpassungen, eventuell längere Bremsleitungen, plus Achsvermessung nach dem Lift, Stabistangen verlängern, usw.

Hello, this 2 Parts i take out from my parts Jeep and like to build them in my Jeep. The long one looks matching the short one is on one side differend. what of this fits in my Lefthand Jeep? Thanks.

Lenkgestänge, also. Beide Stangen sind gleich, ob links oder rechts gesteuert, soweit Ich das Foto in Betrachtung nehme.

 

Wenn die Lenkköpfe in Ordnung sind, leg los, einbauen. Und danach Achsvermessen nicht vergessen.

Bei der kurzen Stange kann man sowieso nur einen Kopf wechseln.

 

Wieso hast Du nicht neue Stange oben und neue Köpfe unten eingebaut ?

 

Es kann sein dass auch die Köpfe vom Rechtslenker schon ausgelutscht sind, und dann hast Du mehr gearbeitet als es sich gelohnt hat.

Hi, ja weil ich keine neuen Gefunden hab, zumindest nirgends wo ich die bestellen kann. Bis gestern, aber da waren die schon ausgebaut. Mal schaun, wenn es nicht geht, dann bestell ich neue und gut ist.
