Hi.

Last year I wasn't there but this year I plan visit Transalpina and Transylvania.

my friend send me this photo:

Its mean that Strategica is close?

And someone wrote that this is one way road.

Then from where to where is correct direction? from Transalpina Road or to Transalpina road.

Re: Strategica Road

The sign says "access forbidden for all motor vehicles"

I was the one who said it's a one way, but it was a joke because at one end it's the forbidden sign and to the other end it's no sign.

Re: Strategica Road

Strategica road and Transalpina road are two different roads !

The Strategica road it may be posible to be closed because it crosses several private properties.....

The Transalpina road it`s totally paved and asphalted and has the code "national road DN67c".

It starts in Novaci, Valcea county and it ends in Sebes, Alba county.

More details you can find here :

http://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transalpina

And it looks like here :

Burza4X4, you are welcome in Romania! We are in UK?

:)

For you, I strongly recommend the "Advanced search" function described below and you may use "strategica" as key-word :

You`ll find plenty of discusions and descriptions for Strategica.

I find, that still lots od people use this Strategica road and they drive both way :).

I found that on the straregica road ther are lots of skylifts. Then how I can drive to them?

Re: Strategica Road

Astral's recommendation was for Dacadrean, we know it's a problem for you to understand Romanian.

The Strategica area seems to be part of a Natura 2000 reserve, that's why the sign from the picture was erected. It was not there until the Transalpina-DN67c was unpaved, I guess it appeared in order to keep large number of tourists from accessing the area. Until several years ago it was a traditional offroad route for bikers and allroaders, just like the now paved Transalpina. On the other hand until two years ago(defore being paved) the Transalpina was closed for public access on the northern side, to prevent responability of the authorities for cars caught in the wilderness.

The cable transport you ask about is accessible from the DN 7A somewhere between Voineasa and the lake at Obarsia Lotrului, only the upper end has access from the Strategica. It might be a secondary reason for restrictions, in order to keep people accessing the area only using the "gondola". This way it would still have clients outside the wintersport season.

There're 3 main reasons for signs like that: natural reserves, private properties and warnings for roads improper for public use. In case of reserves there're often quite active rangers or mountain policemen to enforce the restrictions. In the second case you can get caught in pointy/sharp "traps" placed to stop intruders . It does not happen often, but there have been situations. The third case is just one of "your own responsability" and we are used to take care of ourselves.

I sent you PM too.
