Am gasit jurnalul acesta destul de recent pe un forum toyota si fara sa vreau sa fac reclama indraznesc sa il postez si aici. Am dat un search anterior postarii dar nu am gasit link-ul catre jurnalul omului si am credinta ca ar interesa pe multi, macar pentru peisaje :)

Nu stiu ce sa zic. S-au dus la muritorii de foame sa isi etaleze avutia. Cred ca nu pateau nimic daca mergeau cu o masina mai ieftina si nu in halul ala de ultradotata. Ceva imi spune ca mai erau "acompaniati" de altii si nu erau singuri.

S-a dus si omul cu ce a avut la indemana, ce sa faca? A mai fost un topic tot cu traversare de Africa, tot un cuplu cu o Toyota, doar ca era bunica, avea gauri de rugina la greu, fara troliu, fara fite de confort, dar nici asa nu a fost bine pentru ca unii au comentat ca prea era praf masina si neechipata pentru asa ceva.

Cred ca cel mai bine sa stea lumea acasa, sa nu mai umble aiurea pe coclauri, fara "masina potrivita", daca nu au "asa ceva" in dotare.

Mi-a placut ideea enorm de mult. Fotografiile si impresiile de drum sunt iarasi frumoase. Daca mi-as permite, as lua si eu o LC200 si as pune-o la drumuri grele, cu modificarile ulterioare, nu vad de ce e o problema. Ca sa ma duc in africa ar trebui sa modific o dacia break din 86?? Pana la urma, daca ai dispune de atatia bani, cat are omul ala, nu ai apela la solutiile care ti se par TIE PERSONAL cele mai de incredere?

 

Hai ca e o aventura frumoasa, chiar daca n-ar fi fost doar ei doi... E o poveste frumoasa, pe care nu multi dintre noi si-o vor permite vreodata. Chiar cu o masina mai ieftina.

Cred ca aveau 1000 si una de alte solutii pentru masina de expeditie mai ales ca banii din ce vad eu nu cred ca sunt o problema pentru ei. Singurul motiv pentru care nu si-au luat macete pe spinare este ca au fost insotiti.

Toata stima pentru cei ce intreprind astfel de drumetii, cred ca ei stiu mai bine cum trebuie sa arate si sa fie echipata o masina care te duce prin astfel de tari de lumea a 3 a, nu papitoii aia 2 si concediul lor de 5 stele.

Din cate inteleg problema ta e ca au profanat Africa cu o masina de 70k EURO. Dar cei care merg cu camioane de 200-300k EUR?

 

Poti sa imi dai exemple de ceva masini de expeditie cu ceva poze prealabil?

Crezi ca pentru muritorii de foame e diferenta asa mare daca vad un TLC 200 sau TLC 80? Eu iti zic ca nu - tu pentru ei vei fi tot timpul albul excentric si cu bani. Conteaza abilitatile tale sociale nu masina care o conduci.

Si asta iti zic din experienta.

 

Cea mai buna masina e aia pe care o ai si ai incredere in ea. Sunt oameni carora nu le place sa mearga cu "cazane".

Oare cum e mai bine - o masina pe care esti 99% sigur ca termina o expeditie fara nici o interventie mecanica sau sa cari dupa tine planetare si cutii de viteza.

 

Referitor la bani - o expeditie transafricana te costa aprox 10k Euro oricum ai da-o. Cu orice ai merge tot concediu de 5 stele se numeste.

Mie unul mi-a plăcut la maxim aventura lor și pozele și peisajele și mașina.

 

Și asta apropo și la o discuție mai veche despre arctic trucks de pe forum unde ziceau ca nu ar fi bune cauciucurile ăla mari pentru off road serios

Tipul ăsta a montat 35-uri mari pe mașină, sau cel puțin așa zice și nu a avut probleme cu terenurile mlăștinoase. Iar din poze se vede ca a avut parte și de genul ala de drum.

E doar o părere, nu sunt cunoscător al echipamentelor pentru off road absolut deloc.

I found this Thread backlink in the links of my travelblog, and try to follow the discussion here with Google translate.

 

I wrote this blog, did that trip at the end of 2012. Therefore i may can anwer some of your questions.

I had planned to do this trip with my best friend, with them i was in Laos and northern Thailand doing there offroad trips with rentals. But at an early stage of planning he don`t want to do that trip through africa. Too extended, too dangerous he told me.

 

I start to plan the trip for me alone. I had bought and equipped my car, and it was not long bevore i work on the Visa-Situation as my Girlfriend decide to come with me. Believe me, i was not happy about. I can risk my life, my belongings - thats up to me. But to look also for the safety of my girlfriend need a lot more detail prepareness.

 

I read any blog i found about transafricas from the last 5 years, and i read them in detail. I get in touch with locals to get a feeling about the security situation, get in contact with travellers who did that trip. At the end i decide that the situation allows it, that we travel together.

 

There was no other travelexperience available than an 1 Year old trip by an dutch traveller - and the situation in Mali and Nigeria was much worse than bevore. But i did design a route who should get us through.

 

Yes, we did that trip as a single car. No guards, no security, no weapons. Just we, and we often do wildcamp in the bush/desert/wilderness.

 

When you think that the people in africa are bad and will kill you when they can - you should better stay at home.

 

I did some offroad 4x4 trips with rentals, and always miss power, winch, difflocks and the right equippement. Therfore i decide to do save my money for that dream of my life. To travel with my own well equipped car.

 

Others did save for a house or flat, or live luxurary, have kids and use theyr money there - i spend money for my dream. This was the first ride with the car, i hope soon to can be on the road again - hopefully with an good amount of time.

 

For the people in africa are cars expensiv anyway, they dont look in detail about the price. Often they asked us "oh my god, what happen to you" because the car looks that bad and dirty.

 

Such a trip has his risks. Using a newer car brings some financial risks too. But i`m not an machanic, i need an reliable car who brings me through africa without any repairs. It is my daily car also after the trip and before the next trip. If you have questions - ask :wink:

Many have the wrong impression about Africa. In fact Land Cruiser is very popular (I think 80% of the cars are Toyota) and I've seen far more L200 there compared with my place. Of course if it happens to break in the middle of nowhere you might be in a little trouble but that's a pesimistic story :grin: and almost in every country from West Africa you have CFAO well represented.

By far the most dangerous place it was the border between Nigeria and Cameroon (last year a French family was kidnapped close to the border with Cameroon by Nigerians) and there is not much on the security level to prevent this while planning the trip.

Recognized some of the habbits of the Congolese policeman - quite classic :ha:...

 

Very interesting trip to be used as a guide by those keen to fulfill this dream.

It’s great that you started and finished this trip without previous experience. I am sure it’s not easy but it’s well worth it.

My concern is about your car, that in my opinion is to opulent for that part of the world. That Toyota is equal X6 or ML with 21" bling bling rims. I’m sure in Africa are more 60, 70 or 80 Toyota models or Defender’s than here in Europe, so it’s more likely you would blend in more easily there.

In Mauretania we had killed our front windscreen. Toyota told as that they need 65 days for shipping a new one, 45 days for flying a spare in. We found a new one on the black market, a "cheap" copy from taiwan. I guess with an non-toyota we had a fast end of our travel there

At the end of 2012 was Mali the badest area. We had planned to cross mali south as possible, but use a shorter way at the end, because we has lost near a day for the new front screen. We use the Kiffa - Kayes track, a nice piece of offroad.

As we reach Kayes we heard that there was a Kidnapping of a French guy in Diemma (a neighbour city) a day before.

 

These hostage situation you mentioned, happens in the really northern part of Cameroon, not the usually boarder crossing near Ekok-Mampfe.

 

When you use small tracks, drive arround villages, stay undetected at night - you can lower the risk of something like that.. We drove through Mali and has a wonderul experience. It is that nice!

 

In the areas with higher risk we also don`t light on a fire - because we dont want to get detected.

These X6 and the ML, you will meet them in the capitals and bigger cities in africa too. They get maintained and repaired too. Maybe with some delay of flying in spares, i guess.

 

Yes the 200er is a luxury car. But the locals known these, the NGO`s, the UN, the gouverment use these too. We meet some of them. They dont are that luxurary build, no leather, 14 Airbags or satellite navigation. Therefore the people also not know that it is the class is that expensiv than the X6.

 

The rich people dont care about your car, because they also drove that stuff. The poor people - for these is a car something they cant buy because it is to expensive - they dont reflect the real value of the car. We never had issues about. Our car mostly look really dirty - therefore the bling factor was maybe also not visible that much.

That way our car looks like mostly. There is no bling. We also dont use the original 20" rims, and went with 33" mud tyres on 17" rims.
